NGC 5236 - Messier 83


Object: NGC 5236 The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy in the constellation Hydra at a distance of approximately 4.8 Mpc (15.6 Mly). It is a weakly barred spiral galaxy similar to our own, but about half as small, being only ~55 kly in diameter.
