NGC 2997


Object: NGC 2997 Galaxy in the constellation Antlia at a distance of approximately 12 Mpc (40 Mly). It is a spiral galaxy with an active blue nucleus and a plethora of pink HII regions delineating the spiral arms. The apparent size of 9'x7' on the sky inclined about 30 deg from face on implies a diameter of ~100 kly. Click image for larger field of view in zoomable window.
